Now that you’ve got your basic WordPress installation up and running smoothly, it’s time to add a few things that might make your life a little easier…

I did just this a few days ago on another site I’m developing, and found then it was pretty much a steep learning curve… but second time around, and armed with a little more experience (a couple of days LOL) I should find it a lot easier this time!

In theory it’s pretty simple… basically you download a plugin, unzip it, upload the folder that contains the unzipped plugin to your WordPress plugins folder, and then go to ADMIN/PLUGINS and click the ACTIVATE link next to the plugin. There might be a little more configeration to do with each plugin, so check for that (you’ll configure most of the plug-ins you install through the ADMIN/OPTIONS section of WordPress – they’ll be listed there in the tabs…)

Just make sure you check out the install instructions on the plug-in home page!

The initial set I’ve chosen focuses on user comments and spam, tags (eh?), stats and printing.

So… to the plug-ins! Click on the next page below…

Thanks for the tip on the WP-Print plugin. I’ve just installed it and like the print page it generates. I was surprised that it footnotes the links in the page, an excellent feature.
